He received Aerospace Medical training with NASA at the Johnson Space Center, supporting Shuttle and Soyuz launches. He’s a USAF rated flight surgeon. He has a Master's degree in Public Health. His passion is aviation medicine and his goal is to keep you flying!

Dr. Meredith is a retired OB/GYN physician and a current FAA Senior HIMS Aviation Medical Examiner (AME), bringing a distinctive combination of medical expertise and a heartfelt connection to aviation. Married to retired F-16 pilot Dr. Andy “DOC” Davenport, she understands the challenges and rewards of life in the cockpit.
Passionate about empowering women in aviation, she offers a welcoming, judgment-free space where female pilots - and all aviators - feel supported and understood. Her background in women’s health gives her a unique ability to guide and advocate for female aviators while providing compassionate care to every pilot.
An expert in AME consultations and HIMS evaluations, Dr. Meredith combines warmth, clarity, and clinical skill to make even the most complex FAA medical certifications smooth and stress-free.
Dr. Jeffrey McBride
HOUSTON
Dr. McBride is an Aerospace Medicine doctor and board-certified psychiatrist who also works in local emergency rooms. He’s excited to be a part of the Texas AME team and wants to help pilots through the certification process. While not currently an active pilot, he enjoyed flying throughout his Aerospace Medicine training in a Cirrus SR22, Super Decathlon 8KCAB, and helos. When not working, he spends time with family in Houston.
Dr. Christine Schwartz
HOUSTON
Dr. Schwartz is residency trained in Aerospace Medicine and Internal Medicine. She is board certified and continues to practice Internal Medicine in the area. She earned her USAF Flight Surgeon wings in 2025 as well as a master’s degree in Aerospace Medicine from UTMB. She completed a Wilderness Medicine fellowship in 2024 and has earned FAWM and DIDMM certifications through the wilderness medical society.
Dr. Brian Rodriguez
HOUSTON
Dr. Rodriguez is an Aerospace and Internal Medicine doctor who also works at UTMB in Galveston. He’s excited to be a part of the Texas AME team and wants to keep pilots in the air. He is currently working on his pilot license and has experience flying in a Cirrus SR22, Super Decathlon 8KCAB, and helos. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and weenie dog.
Dr. Michael Stephens
HOUSTON
Dr. Stephens is a physician-pilot with a distinguished background in military service and specialized medicine. A Mustang Navy officer and combat veteran, he brings years of high-stakes operational experience to his work as an emergency medicine attending physician and aerospace medicine specialist, Dr. Stephens has trained at Mayo Clinic, UTMB, and NASA. He flew 59 combat missions in the Middle East and earned two Air Medals while serving on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He now serves as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve and is an Associate Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA).
Dr. Andrew Lam
HOUSTON
Dr. Lam is a resident in Aerospace Medicine and a board-certified family physician with a passion for all things aviation and space. Having undergone flight training himself in the Diamond DA40, Cirrus SR22, and Cessna 172, he understands the importance of medical certification and hopes to make the process as smooth and safe as possible for those who fly. He enjoys learning whatever he can and would love to talk with you about cooking, birding, natural history, languages, physics, or pretty much anything else!
Dr. Akash Mittal
SAN ANTONIO & AUSTIN
Dr. Akash Mittal, DO is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and Flight Surgeon the United States Army Reserve. He has extensive experience in clinical medicine, Aerospace Medicine, and leadership. He completed his medical education at Touro University Nevada and his residency training at UNC Health Southeastern in North Carolina.
Dr. Mittal currently serves as a medical director for a large health organization in San Antonio, and as the Battalion Flight Surgeon for 1-158 AHB. He provides comprehensive aeromedical evaluations, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports the health and readiness of aviators. His background includes operational medicine, preventive care, and performance optimization in high-demand environments.
When not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking fusion dishes, and is an avid marathon runner. He is also currently working on earning his private pilot license.

Dr. Michael "$MOKES" Smolka is the Chief of Aerospace Medicine at the USAF Special Warfare Training Wing and brings a truly remarkable level of professionalism and expertise. He has specialty training in Sports Medicine and an avid supporter of medical certification for aviators!
Dr. Charles Fisher

Dr. Fisher is a board-certified Family physician, Occupational and Aerospace medicine specialist, former USAF School of Aerospace Medicine commander, and retired USAF Chief Flight Surgeon who has practiced military and civilian Aerospace medicine for over thirty years. As an long-standing FAA Senior AME, he is an experienced advocate for professional pilots and has guided countless clients through challenging certification processes. Dr. Fisher is a warbird pilot, a dedicated volunteer and leader in the Experimental Aircraft Association and several other aviation groups. He is a well-known name in aviation medicine through participation and leadership in the Aerospace Medical Association, Civil Aviation Medicine Association and many other professional aviation and medicine groups.
Dr. Todd Nash
AUSTIN
Dr. Nash is a board-certified Emergency Medicine Doctor who has practiced all over Texas. He frequently commutes in his Cessna 400, which recently replaced his older, much-beloved Cessna 210. He’s been a pilot since the 1980’s and is instrument-rated. He just finished his commercial pilot training, and is trying to decide what to do with it!
Dr. Nash served in the USAF involved in systems engineering and acquisition with Space Command and the NRO. Later, he went to medical school at UT-Houston and served as a Critical Care Air Transport (CCAT) and ER doctor.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Nash loves spending time and traveling with his wife and three kids. They enjoy a lot of outdoor activities including sailing, scuba diving, wake surfing and fishing.
